Rural Development Network (RDN)

The Rural Development Network (RDN) brings federal departments, agencies and selected others together to achieve greater information sharing, collaboration and coordination on rural issues, with a view of developing better integrated federal policies and programs that meet the diverse needs of Canadians living in rural, remote and northern communities.

Objectives of the RDN

  • Increase horizontal collaboration among departments and agencies.
  • Provide a central point of expertise for rural researchers and policy analysts.
  • Facilitate information sharing on rural issues.
  • Share and generate initiatives to further the rural agenda.
  • Provide new ideas and tools pertaining to rural policy and research.
  • Create opportunities to share research and information on programs with various departments and agencies.
